What Is Afterschool?

The time your child spends after school is important. Homework help, games and exercise, arts and crafts, healthy snacks and supervised play are all a part of Y Afterschool. Enrich your child's life and let them take full advantage of the facilities at the Y with the Afterschool program - every day is precious so make every day count.
If your child is participating in Y sports or swim lessons during Afterschool, we'll handle that, too! Some fees may apply for sports and swim, but scholarships are available. Swim lessons at Caine Halter, Eastside and Adams Mill.

Program Information

Programming runs from school dismissal until 6:00PM, Monday through Friday and operates from 7:30AM until 6:00PM on teacher workdays and most holidays (separate registration and special rates apply during Winter and Spring Breaks). We provide transportation at dismissal to the YMCA from the following schools:

  • Thomas E. Kearns
  • Stone Academy
  • East North Street Academy
  • Augusta Circle
  • Sterling School
  • Hughes Academy
  • Beck Academy
  • League Academy

We also offer an on-site program at Blythe Academy & Sara Collins Elementary!

Carolina Karate at the Y

Students will learn traditional karate, skill development, leadership, flexibility, mental and self-control. After the 12 week course, students will have skills to advance to a new level. Instruction includes proper execution of punches, kicks, blocks, and stances. The program is designed to teach children basic self-defense and karate, but more importantly self-discipline. Each class will introduce new skills and ideas while building on what they will learn. Sign up today!

Afterschool Childcare

Has your employment changed and you now need after school care? Consider enrolling your child in our Activate Afterschool Program. Your child will be given the opportunities to reach their goals, and we'll help you achieve your goals as parents. Does your child attend Blythe Elementary? If so, there is no need to transport your child to the YMCA. With the collaboration of Blythe Elmenetary, the YMCA will provide Afterschool right on the school property. How easy is that? Register today!

The YMCA will now operate Afterschool childcare out of Sara Collins Elementary! Kids will enjoy staying at the school without the worries of being bussed to the YMCA. Enjoy the same programming and quality of staff right in your own school.
