Afterschool Child Care

What are you doing after school? The time your child spends after school is important. Homework help with tutors, groups games,  arts and crafts, sports,  healthy snacks, water safety education, teen programming and supervised play are all a part of Y Afterschool. Enrich your child’s life and let them take full advantage of the facilities at the Y with the Afterschool program.

This program is held on-site  at Duncan Chapel Elementary School from school dismissal until 6:00pm.

Mother's Morning Out

A warm welcoming atmosphere in which children will have the opportunity to function in a structured setting designed for children ages 3 and 4. They will be exposed to a wide variety of curriculum included in the K-4 state program. Themed activities will include days of the week, colors, numbers, counting, shapes, song, dance, reading and writing. This program is coordinated by SC state certified teacher, Audrey Smith. Program starts September 6th and is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00am - 1:00pm.

DANCE CURRICULUM

This program educates dancers in multiple disciplines with an emphasis on proper technique and an appreciation of the art. Our youngest dancers begin by exploring movement, rhythm, spatial awareness and building their own creativity. These concepts create a foundation that we can continue to nurture as dancers grow through the program. Through the years, dancers will be introduced to discipline specific
terminology, body placement and movement that is appropriately challenging for their level. All dancers will be given the opportunity to show off their development at a yearend performance for family and friends.

An additional part of every dancer’s curriculum is gaining appreciation of the art through understanding the history, experiencing the art as a spectator and eventually even becoming a part of the creative process through self-expression. There are many in-class experiences that help to facilitate this understanding, but we also provide several extra-curricular enrichment opportunities, like our
semi-annual Night at the Theatre, that dancers and even their families can take advantage of.
