Middle School Model Legislature
The Middle School Model Legislature is our newest conference, with more than 200 students participating in 2011. Our goal is to grow this program to the size of the high school program, with more than 1,000 students. Middle school students also use the Statehouse for their model legislature. High school students serve in leadership roles for the middle school conference, providing positive role modeling and giving high school students the opportunity for meaningful leadership and service.
Middle School Model United Nations
The
middle school Model United Nations program is a full-year curriculum
implemented in the schools with direction and leadership from the YMCA Youth in
Government staff. The program culminates in a two-day Model United Nations
conference in April. Student participants work in small groups to study a
particular country, and write a proposal that is presented at the MUN
conference. Again, high school students provide leadership for this program. Click here for the High School Model United Nations Resource Staff Application. All applications are due to Mary Capers Bledsoe by February 15th, 2013.
