Bible Study

Open to the General Public.  This Bible Study meets every Friday from 10:45 AM to roughly 11:45 AM.  There is no fee for the class. The only cost is that of the book.  The current study is Living Victoriously in Difficult Times by Kay Arthur. The Bible Study is led by a Volunteer at Golden Strip.  Contact information is located at the bottom of this page.

Beginner Bike Groups

Open to the General Public.  We are now trying to organize beginner rides during the summer.  These rides will be Group Rides where we leave no one behind.  Adults only and you must have a bike and helmet in order to participate.  Distances begin at 15 miles and we leave from the Golden Strip YMCA parking lot.  Days and times vary. Contact information is located at the bottom this page.

In addition to the beginner rides, a volunteer ride has recently been added to our small groups.  This is considered a challenge for beginner riders looking to increase their mileage or for that athlete who is looking to achieve a recovery ride. The pace is considered to be around 14-17 miles per hour. This will not be a fast ride.  These rides are 70 miles or  longer and leave from different locations.  Contact information for this is through Neil Turner at neilturner56@yahoo.com.

Early Morning Basketball

Open to YMCA members.  This early morning crew is very friendly and well organized.  Teams are chosen as players show up.  As you come into the gym you sign your name on the board and pick up games are played based on the number of players.  It is a lot of fun.  This crew has been around a long time and welcomes newcomers.  Games start from 5:45 AM - 7:00 AM.

Running Groups

Open to the General Public.  This group is open to all who like to run.  So bring your friend and join us for an early morning run.  We generally meet every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 5:30 AM, and all runners meet at the front door to the Y.  Then another run that travels around the area on Saturday mornings leaves around 6:30 AM.  The pace is for all. No runner is left behind.  Contact information is located at the bottom of this page.

Scrap Book Night

We meet every third Friday.  It is paired with Parents Night Out so that members can enjoy Scrap Booking while their kids have a blast!  Registration is free for Members and $5 for Non Members.  We ask that you bring your owns supplies.  This fun begins at 6:00 PM and ends at roughly 10:00 PM.  See contact information below if you are interested.

Swimming

Members get together M-W-F around 8:00 AM for a very friendly swim practice.  They usually bring their workouts to share.  We generally have three swimmers per lane (using 3 lanes or 2 depending on the number of participants) but as long as you are open to their workouts, they are open to round swimming.  This would be best described as Masters Swimming without the team logo, but definitely with the push to keep you active in your swimming.

We also have coached practices that have been added to our programs.  These coached swims are at 5:30 in the morning and the workouts are provided.

Volleyball

Open to all Y members who have a passion for volleyball.  This coed group meets on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 8:00 PM  for pick-up games.
