Men's Bible StudyOur next Men's Bible Study will be a Lifeway Small Groups study called Barbarian: A call into unchartered space. Early Morning BasketballThis group is open to YMCA members only. The early morning basketball crew is very friendly and well organized. Teams are chosen based on the number of players that attend. When you arrive, just sign your name on the board in the gym to reserve your spot in the next game. Although this crew has been around for a long time, they welcome newcomers, and really have a lot of fun. Games run from 5:45 am until 7:00 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Running GroupsWe have a variety of running groups leaving from our Y throughout the week. We have one group that leaves at 5:30 am on Thursdays. Another group leaves from different locations in the Simpsonville area at 6:30 am on Saturdays. The Walk to Run Beginner Group meets here at the Y on Wednesdays at 9:15am. Other groups run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 am, and these groups include all levels of runners from the beginner to the half-marathoner. For more information, please contact Lori Dredge or Melody Pirkle at 963-3605.
SwimmingMembers get together M-W-F around 8:00 AM for a very friendly swim practice. They usually bring their workouts to share. We generally have three swimmers per lane (using 3 lanes or 2 depending on the number of participants) but as long as you are open to their workouts, they are open to round swimming. This would be best described as Masters Swimming without the team logo, but definitely with the push to keep you active in your swimming.
We also have coached practices that have been added to our programs. These coached swims are at 5:30 AM and the workouts are provided.
VolleyballWe are currently registering for our Spring Adult Volleyball 6 vs. 6 League. You can join either as an individual, or as a team, The cost is $210 per team or $40 per individual (includes referee fees). The league meets on Tuesday and/or Wednesday nights.
We also have pick-up volleyball open to all Y members. This co-ed group meets on Tuesday evenings at 8:00 PM at the Adams Mill Rd facility. When the Adult Volleyball League is not in season, pick-up volleyball meets on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 8:00 PM..
