For the safety of our YMCA members, program participants and staff, we are being thoughtful and intentional about our reopening process. Based on CDC and State guidelines for operation, we are reopening all membership branches with limited offerings and hours. This will enable our staff team to maintain facility cleanliness, and control facility traffic in accordance with social distancing recommendations. We are adding group classes and other amenities as it is safe to do so. From there, we will continue to work through a phased, graduated plan to increase offerings and service hours as the State allows. We will closely follow the Governor’s orders (including capacity limits), and require that everyone maintain six feet of social distance from others. We eagerly await the opportunity to see our Y family again soon, and to continue serving you, our friends and neighbors!

Temperature Checks

Temperature Checks

Anyone entering the building will be asked to answer a brief series of health screening questions, and will have their temperature taken. Those who do not pass the health questionnaire, or have a temperature of 100.4 and higher will not be allowed access to the facility.

Showers & Lockers

Showers & Lockers

*UPDATED* Lockers and showers will NOW BE AVAILABLE. Please help us by using provided spray bottles to sanitize your shower stall and locker after use. Dry saunas at all available branches will also be open, but steam rooms remained closed for now. Remember to bring your towel!

Social Distancing

Keep Your Distance

We have prepared our branches for social distancing by spacing out equipment, alternating our treadmill and cardio usage to every other machine, and by limiting capacity in the facility and in classes so everyone has the recommended six feet of space.

Wipe Down Equipment

Wipe Down Equipment

Our Y staff will be sanitizing equipment and high-touch areas regularly and deep cleaning after the facilities are closed. Please do your part by wiping down equipment before and after your workout with the EPA-approved disinfectant and sanitizer provided.

Reduced Capacity

Expect Reduced Capacity

Currently, the State is mandating that gym capacity be limited to 5 people (staff and members) per 1,000 square feet or 20% capacity (whichever is less). Each of our facilities is different in size and will have a different operating capacity. We will be keeping an active count of attendees in the branches to adhere to this order.

Wear Your Mask

Wear Your Mask

While not required, The Y requests that members wear their masks whenever possible, especially in common areas.

Keep the Kids at Home

Keep the Kids at Home

We miss our Y kids! When State guidelines are modified to allow for larger groups to occupy a shared space, we will be able to reopen child watch areas. As the recommendations stand now, only 5 people are permitted per every 1,000 square feet of space, which prevents us from being able to staff child watch areas and provide this service to members. As soon as regulations are lifted, we will make child watch available again.

Reserve Lap Swimming

Pools

*UPDATED* We've extended pools times at all available branches but is still limited to lap swim and water walking. We still ask that you reserve your lane ahead of time by clicking HERE up to 24 hours in advance, and you can even join a waitlist if your preferred time slot is full (you’ll get an email notification if a spot opens up). This sign-up system will be first-come, first-served (reservation links will become live 24 hours before the scheduled class).

Group Exercise Reservations

Group Exercise

*UPDATED* Our Group Exercise schedules are being added-to weekly, but class sizes are still limited. So please continue to RSVP here for classes in advance to help us manage capacity. Visit our Group Exercise Page to see the schedule. Class reservations are first-come, first-served (registration links will become active 24 hours prior to the scheduled class). We politely ask that members sign up for only one class per day, to ensure availability for all.

Stay at Home

Stay Home if You're Sick

CDC and state guidelines encourage seniors and other vulnerable populations to stay home.

Please clarify – am I required to wear a mask when I come to the Y?

Per State and CDC recommendations, we encourage anyone entering the facility to wear a mask, especially in common areas. However, masks are not required, and we are not suggesting that masks be worn during vigorous activity, exercise, or in instances where they may obstruct breathing. Our staff team is required to wear masks while working (unless they’re teaching a group exercise class), but we won’t prevent you from accessing the Y if you prefer not to wear one. We really enjoy the livestreamed group exercise classes on Facebook. Will these continue once facilities reopen?

We do plan to continue our Facebook live classes! The schedule is still being determined, but we can tell you that we’ll be prioritizing senior-focused offerings, and featuring classes like yoga that don’t require equipment or large spaces. To see the livestream group exercise schedule, CLICK HERE.

Pools will only be available for lap swim and water walking, correct?

That’s right. For now, pool lanes will only be available for lap swimming and water walking (in keeping with the State’s guidelines for reopening swimming pools). Family swim time and aqua aerobics have been temporarily suspended, but will resume once restrictions are lifted.

I miss pick-up basketball, and my favorite aqua class. When can we expect more services and amenities to be made available?

We hear you! While we’re excited to reopen and welcome our members back, we know that having to adjust your exercise routine may be challenging. Our staff team is implementing a carefully designed, phased reopening plan, and we’ll make our traditional amenities and services available as restrictions are lifted. Your health and safety is the most important priority, always. Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this temporary interruption in our services.
