We know when the weather gets cold, the last thing most people are thinking about is swimming pools (not talking about you, hardcore lap swimmers. Y’all are always thinking about the pool).

But I’d like to make the case for why winter is a great time to take swim lessons.

  • Flexibility – our swim lesson schedule isn’t as crowded when it’s cold out, so you have the flexibility to sign up for classes that make sense for your family. Need even more flexibility? Private lessons are available.
  • Peace of Mind Investment – Swim lessons are an investment in water safety. That investment pays off for a lifetime. But it’s especially important in the summertime when families are on vacation, while kids swim in neighborhood pools, or visit the lake. Invest early, and you’ll have peace of mind all year long.
  • Meet our New Instructors – We’ve just trained a whole new crop of swim instructors, and they look forward to meeting you. This group is talented and passionate about teaching swimming, water safety, and even competitive coaching.
  • Swimming is a great way to keep kids active. Studies show active kids tend to do better in school and have fewer behavior problems. Swimming is a fun way to keep children and teens active.

Our next session of swim lessons begins on Nov. 4. Registration is open for Y members now and opens to the community on Oct. 21. Financial assistance is available for swim lessons.
