We hope you’ll forgive us for a moment as we look back at the great summer we had. Hundreds of children and teens had adventures at YMCA of Greenville day camps, specialty camps, and overnight camp at YMCA Camp Greenville. Summer is a key time when the Y fulfills its Youth Development mission.

At the Y, we recognize that effective youth development requires an approach that focuses on achieving specific, measurable social-emotional, cognitive, and physical milestones. We know that youth need positive role models and they need to feel physically and emotionally safe to thrive. To ensure youth realize their potential to become active, engaged and thriving members of society, the Y nurtures their development from birth to career through programming, experiences, and support.

At the Y, our Summer Day Camp and Afterschool Enrichment programs provide safe, nurturing environments for children to learn, grow, and develop social skills, so parents can go to work knowing their kids are still with people who care about their development and wellbeing.

Our educational support and leadership development programs like Teen Achievers provide character development, guidance, and encouragement to help children learn and realize their potential.

Our swimming and sports programs provide positive, fun activities that build physical and social skills so children develop a lifetime appreciation for active living.

And resident camp at Y Camp Greenville gives children an exciting, safe community to explore the outdoors, build confidence, develop skills, and make lasting friendships and memories so they can grow as individuals and leaders.

We are able to do all of this because of the support of our community partners. We’d like to take the opportunity to highlight one such partner. The Allstate Foundation’s Good Starts Young program is supporting youth development programming at the Y this year. Thank you for supporting the youth of Greenville!
